Abstract

We look at the criteria for ‘getting into’ the Australian Dictionary of Biography and take a glimpse at some of the 659 entries in the latest volume (17) of the Dictionary. ADB editors amass a vast amount of information as part of the editorial process. Researcher Michael Piggott takes a look at what you might find in a typical ADB file. Until now the 12,000 or so files that have been created have been stored in the ADB's offices. So that they can be both better preserved and made more accessible to the public the files have been moved to the ANU Archives located in the Menzies Library at the university.
