Rohan is an environmental historian of the Southern Ocean World. His research examines the connected histories of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica, the subantarctic islands, and the Southern Ocean itself, focusing on environmental transformations and the intersection of global, environmental, and imperial histories in this region. He is currently completing two major research projects. The first, The Southern Frontier: Australia, Antarctica, and Empire in the Southern Ocean World, explores the history of Australia's relationship with the Antarctic region, while the second examines the global history of efforts to colonise and transform the subantarctic islands of the Southern Ocean.

Prior to taking up his current position as Lecturer in Environmental History at Monash University, Rohan was the inaugural Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Environmental History in 2022. During his time at ANU, he established the Centre's regular Environmental Exchanges seminar series, co-convened the interdisicplinary Deep Conversations series, and helped to establish the Centre's flagship annual event, the Robin-Griffiths Annual Environmental History Lecture. He completed his PhD at the University of Sydney and has previously lectured in History and Global Studies at the University of Sydney and the University of Wollongong.
