Jim Davidson is a fellow of the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne. He edited Meanjin from 1974 to 1982, and his books include Holiday Business: Tourism in Australia Since 1870 (with Peter Spearritt). His biography Lyrebird Rising: Louise Hanson-Dyer of Oiseau-Lyre arose from an article written for the Australian Dictionary of Biography. His second biography, A Three-Cornered Life: The Historian W K Hancock, won or shared four awards in 2011, including the Prime Minister’s History Prize, the Ernest Scott Prize, and the Age non-fiction Book of the Year.
