Stephen Foster
Stephen is an Adjunct Professor in the Research School of Humanities and the Arts, ANU. In the 1980s he was involved with the eleven-volume series Australians: A Historical Library and ran a private heritage company in the 1990s. During the last decade, he was a General Manager at the National Museum of Australia before rejoining the ANU and setting up the Museums and Collections program which was jointly funded by the National Museum. He also co-authored The Making of The Australian National University (1996). Stephen will be addressing issues encountered in his recent ‘biography’ A Private Empire (2010) about several generations of the Macpherson Family.
