In her new book Musquito: The real story of a legendary colonial warrior, historian Naomi Parry Duncan wades through misinformation and myth to tell the story of one of the best-known First Nations resistance warriors of the early colonial period. In the process, she uncovers and grapples with the ways in which her own convict ancestors were entangled in his story. Join her in conversation with Shauna Bostock to find out all about it.
Attendance is free, but registration is essential. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing at the event, thanks to Harry Hartog booksellers.
Dr Naomi Parry Duncan is a professional historian and senior research officer at the Indigenous Land and Justice Research Group at UNSW and president of the History Council of NSW. She holds adjunct positions at the University of Tasmania and Western Sydney University.
Dr Shauna Bostock's research focuses on the multi-generational history of her Aboriginal ancestors. She traced her four Aboriginal grandparents’ family lines back to the settlement of Northern NSW. Shauna’s family history research is a narrative of five generations of Aboriginal experience.
