  • Biography

In 2021 Dr Gabriella Kelly-Davies published Breaking Through the Pain Barrier: The Extraordinary Life of Dr Michael J. Cousins. Her doctoral dissertation, ‘Choices, Choices, Choices: One Biographer’s Experience’, analysed her choices while researching and writing Breaking Through the Pain Barrier. She studied biography and history at the ANU and, in 2023, was a visiting doctoral student at the University of Oxford's Centre for Life Writing. She studied narrative nonfiction and creative writing at the University of Sydney, and her postdoctoral research project is researching and writing a book on biographical decision-making. Gabriella hosts ‘Biographers in Conversation’, a podcast of interviews with biographers around the world about the multiplicity of choices they make while researching and crafting life stories.
