  • Biography

Alex Kujanpaa is a PhD candidate in the School of History at the Australian National University, Canberra. She examines the performance of imperial ceremonial in the hippodrome at Constantinople from the city's dedication in 330 until the end of the Isaurian Dynasty in 802. Her research interests include Early Byzantine imperial history, the negotiation of power between ruler and subject, and the development of imperial ceremonial.
