Gold Medalist Matilda Hatcher to join School's HDR program
Wednesday 21 December 2022

Matilda greatly enjoyed her undergraduate study at the ANU, which allowed her to pursue her passion for History and Art History whilst allowing her to explore some unexpected paths in the fields of Classical Studies and Archaeology.

In her Honours thesis she examined the intersections of martial manliness and disability in representations of British Royal Navy sailors of the French Wars. This work revealed many more topics worth studying in this area.

Next year she is happy to be continuing this work in the School of History, using the methodologies of the history of emotion to explore the mental and emotional impact of these wars on sailors.
