Friday 11 July 2025

We are thrilled to share the news that Dr Filip Slaveski, from the School of History in the Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS), has been awarded a highly competitive four-year Future Fellowship by the Australian Research Council (ARC).

Dr Slaveski will receive $1,127,074.00 in funding for his project, Rebuilding Ukraine: From its War-Torn Past to its War-Torn Present. The project explores Ukraine’s past to uncover historical strategies of post-war recovery, offering crucial insights to help avoid future violence and support rebuilding efforts today. The outcomes will be of value not only to Ukrainian communities but also in informing Australian government policy on Ukraine.

The ARC Future Fellowships scheme supports outstanding mid-career researchers, with a national success rate of just 15%. The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) achieved a strong result this year, with a 20% success rate.

Congratulations to Dr Slaveski on this exceptional achievement. His work highlights the enduring impact of the humanities and social sciences in shaping policy and addressing global challenges.
