The CASS graduation ceremony on 13 July saw four PhD students in the School of History have their awards conferred. Their topics reveal something of the range of work being undertaken by postgraduate students in the School: Australian nuclear colonialism (Jess Urwin), British and Australian feminists’ engagement with internationalism between the two world wars (Michelle Staff), modern Australian political memoir (Josh Black) and the Australian childhood imagination from 1890 to 1940 (Emily Gallagher). This talented group of students had to bear the challenges of negotiating the Covid pandemic, which was a major disruption to their research. Among their many achievements is their success in overcoming this once-in-a-century obstacle. The principal supervisors were Professor Angela Woollacott (Urwin and Staff), Frank Bongiorno (Gallagher) and Melanie Nolan (Black). Congratulations to everyone involved!
