The Australian National Dictionary

The Centre's most important publication, the second edition of the Australian National Dictionary is a comprehensive record of the Australian language as it has developed from colonial times to the present.

Oxford Dictionaries

The Centre produces many Oxford Dictionaries, including The Australian Oxford Dictionary, The Australian Concise Oxford Dictionary, and The Australian Oxford Mini Dictionary.

Lexical monographs

As well as producing standard dictionaries, the Centre also produces a range of specialised studies in aspects of Australian English. These include regional dictionaries that study the language of Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, and Western Australia, and historical studies that look at the language of gold rushes and the convict era.

Aussie English for Beginners

A three volume series published by the National Museum of Australia which takes a light-hearted look at the rich and distinct vocabulary of Australian English, with definitions provided by the Australian National Dictionary Centre and cartoons by David Pope. The series is based on a display in the Nation: Symbols of Australia gallery at the National Museum of Australia.

Ozwords

Ozwords is the free official newsletter of the Australian National Dictionary Centre. It is published twice a year and contains news, articles about Australian English, and a competition in every issue. Subscription is free, and issues are available to read or download here.

Oxford Word of the Month

The Oxford Word of the Month is written by members of the ANDC and published each month by Oxford University Press Australia. Each Word of the Month looks at an Australian word or term in some detail, providing a history of the term and its role in current Australian society.
