ACIH Members to attend Mungo Man Return to Country Ceremony
Tuesday 7 November 2017

Professor Ann McGrath and Alycia Nevalainen are very proud to have been invited to attend several events related to the return of Mungo Man to the Mungo National Park, including next week's Return to Country ceremony.

Mungo Man (and others) were removed from the Mungo National Park forty-three years ago by the then ANU geomorphologist Dr Jim Bowler, and representatives of the Three Tribal Groups (Paakantji, Ngyiampaa and Mutthi Mutthi) have spent decades tirelessly fighting to have their ancestors returned to Country.

At the request of local Elders, Ann and Alycia will be filming these events, which will complement their ongoing research associated with ACIH's ARC grant documenting a history of Lake Mungo.
