Civilisational Heritage and Hierarchies: Historicising Australian (Phil)Hellenism/s

Dr Andonis Piperoglou is a historian who focuses on migration, race, and settler-colonialism in the early twentieth century. Andonis completed his dissertation at La Trobe University in 2017. His thesis explored how Greeks were positioned in Australian racial imaginings while also investigating how Greek people articulated a sense of settler-colonial belonging. In 2018, Andonis was a recipient of the AHA/Copyright Agency Early Career Mentorship Scheme and co-founded the Australian Migration History Network. Currently, he lectures at the Australian Catholic University and is a Research Associate in History at Flinders University.

Dr Andonis Piperoglou will be our main speaker in this coming seminar. His paper is titled 'Civilisational Heritage and Hierarchies: Historicising Australian (Phil)Hellenism/s'.
