Daniel May's research explores the history of fire within Australia. He is focusing upon the associations drawn between indigenous cultures and fire within settler societies, and how these conceptualisations affect contemporary and historical understandings of fire, land management politics, and identity. Daniel’s research interests include the history of ecology within Australia, comparative history across settler societies, and the power of interactive digital media to shape historical consciousness.
