This ARC-funded Discovery Project (2010-12) into the environmental and political history of Australia’s involvement in the Antarctic Treaty System involves the ANU, the University of Tasmania and the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD).  The project aims to document and assess Australia’s significant record of achievement in the ATS during a period of commemoration and review (2010-12) that promises to be crucial in the history and future of the Treaty.  Australia will host the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting in 2012. Researchers:Tom Griffiths, Marcus Haward (University of Tasmania), Marie Kawaja (Research Associate, ANU) and Alessandro Antonello (PhD student, ANU).
