Centre for Environmental History PhD Scholarship
Overview
The School of History of the Research School of Social Sciences in the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences offers two scholarships known as the ANU Futures Scheme Environmental History Award to support students while they undertake a PhD in Environmental History at the University.
These scholarships contribute to the Centre for Environmental History Futures Scheme project entitled, Placing Planetary Change: An Environmental History of Climate Change in the Southern Hemisphere. It brings together three major innovations: (1) it asks how climate change is experienced, understood and measured in particular places; (2) it asks how particular geographies and histories have shaped those sites; and (3) it asks how those sites have shaped scientific knowledge of planetary climate change.
Postgraduate students will concentrate on a particular place and/or institution, drawing on archival sources and oral histories. Expertise in languages other than English is welcomed.
