Message from Mungo

Message from Mungo
Wednesday 27 January 2016

On the 27th January, NITV is screening 'Message from Mungo’ (Ronin Films) in the prime time slot of 7.30 pm. This is especially timely in the wake of Australia Day, with its intense debates about the appropriateness of this as our national day. This film, co-directed by Australian National University historian Ann McGrath and ANU alumni Andrew Pike, explores the deep history of Australia going back at least 40,000 years.  Indigenous custodians explain what their ancestors and deep history landscapes mean to them. Scientists explain rather different meanings and reveal for the first time how their thinking has been transformed dramatically. The film won the United Nations Association of Australia Award for Media, Indigenous Recognition, was a finalist in the Atom Awards and selected for several prestigious international film festivals. Due to popular demand, the free TV station NITV is screening Message from Mungo for the third time; it topped their ratings in its previous two screenings.
