ANU History Academics Amongst 2017 ARC Grant Recipients

Thirteen projects proposed by academics from the College of Arts and Social Sciences have received funding from the Australian Research Council (ARC). A range of projects from the College have won a total of $5.1m in funding, this includes two ARC Future Fellowships, seven Discovery Early Career Researcher Awards (DECRAs) and four Discovery Projects. The ANU as a whole has received more than $43 million for 91 proposals.

Two research projects from the School of History are amongst the successful submissions.

Dr Christine Wallace from the School of History's National Centre of Biography has received a $358,000 DECRA Fellowship Grant. Her project Imperial Intersection: Australia's American Turn Before Curtin will examine Australian diplomatic conventions and ‘soft power’ in the 1940's.

Dr Malcolm Allbrook, Professor Tom Griffiths and Dr Shino Konishi (now working at the University of Western Australia) have received a four year $732,704 Discovery Indigenous Award to create an Indigenous Dictionary of Biography.
