Welcoming Dr Henning Trueper to the School of History

The School of History welcomes Dr Henning Trueper who joined us recently as a Visiting RSSS scholar to work with the Laureate program Rediscovering the Deep Human Past. He presented at their Kioloa retreat and also presented a paper at the regular History Seminar Series on 27 March.

Henning is currently based at the University of Helsinki, and has held several prestigious visiting international posts, including at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. He publishes on a wide range of European and imperial history amongst other topics. He has a special interest in languages, philology, historiography, the history of imperial ethnography, and in the study of lifesaving from shipwrecks as an organised humanitarian initiative.
